Today we will be talking about what you should be focusing on first when you are ready to start growing your profitable blog. Now at this point, I hope that you already have your blog set up along with your business goals and plan in mind, because those are important.
You need to have a business goal and plans because you are running a business and not a hobby, and you need your blog set up because you are running a blog and you need your blog set up because you are running a blog (obviously).
But beyond that, let us talk about all the things that should follow after, what I recommend is getting into a mindset and just kind of working through a particular process, and here is what I do.
Think Long Term (Products and Services)

The first being, thinking of the long term product or service that you would like to create, and whenever I say these people get nervous, they think “oh, I don’t know if I can create a product”
But trust me when I say that it isn’t that much of a big deal as you think, you are not running a place like Nike so just take it one step at a time and trust me, it’s more manageable than you think.
Initially, a lot of people think “oh, I only want to focus on ad income and affiliate revenue and sponsorships, but you have to think long term, think outside the box. Since you are running a business and not a hobby blog, you should want to have a multiple-income stream.
And one of these streams should be a product or service that is all your own. Work hard to create something that you can put your stamp on because there is nothing that gives you more satisfaction as a business owner.
So let’s talk about product and service ideas. Let’s pretend that you are putting out a budgeting workbook, let’s say in the next six months and now are going to start thinking backward from that, so let’s think of all the things will need to do to prepare our audience for the workbook.
Trust me when I say working hard, creating a product, and then launching is not a good enough plan for bringing in consistent sales. It’s a big mistake that I see a lot of people make.
Another mistake I see the make is that they write a few blog posts about something and still seeing that it isn’t getting a lot of attractions, they still go ahead and just kind of run with it, and they then put out a product, send a couple of emails and then hope for the best, that also isn’t going to bring in consistent sales.
You will have to do a couple of different things to establish your authority and show that you are the go-to person for whatever information your product is based on. So I recommend thinking of videos, webinars, and social media posts, and blog posts that you could write to prepare your readers for that product.
I would say compared to the hobby blogger you’re running a business, so you are going to be creating a product or service and in this example, we are talking about a budgeting workbook and you need to get your readers (old and new) excited and then educated so that by the time you finally rollout that product they will be ready for you.
So if you create a product for months and you don’t mention it, which is a huge mistake. You should want to involve your readers old and new in the process of creating different content and getting everything ready so that by the time you finally launch and are expecting sales, you will be more likely to get them.
So if you throw something about budgeting on your website and just kind of hope that they will buy it, that isn’t going to be good enough. You need to prepare your readers to get into the mindset of budgeting, saving money, wanting to save money, learning about budgeting myths, and a lot of the mistakes you see people make.
By the time you roll out the product, the readers will be invested in the topic and will be excited to start budgeting, and will be more inclined to purchase whatever it is that you are offering them that will make them budget better (since you know-how).
Interact With the Readers (Subscribers)

Okay, so now that you are brainstorming about the different kinds of content you need to provide, you need to go ahead and think about a subscriber incentive.
I see a lot of people make the mistake of trying to sell the products to a lot of people that they just don’t know and haven’t built a strong relationship with, and sometimes it works, but mostly it is normally a hit and miss.
The more secure way to make sure that you have a lot of sales when you do finally launch is to build up an email list and do something with it.
Surprisingly, a lot of people build, build, build, even I made kind of the mistake myself when I started. I started my blog by just collecting email addresses and just letting them sit there, I did nothing with them. It was just a huge waste of their time and mine.
So the important thing to do when you collect these emails is to interact with them so that they are not just emails on an email list, there is an actual person and more importantly a potential customer on the other side.
Ask them questions like; what they struggle with, what they would like to see on your blog, what kind of budgeting question s they might have.
In a way, this is beneficial to you in two different parts.
One, you are building a relationship with them, they are more likely to remember you, you are humanizing your brand, you are indirectly saying “hey, I care about you and the budgeting struggles that you have and I want to help.
The second thing it does is that it provides a little bit of market research for you, so as you are creating this product you already asking potential customers what it is that they would like to see and getting actual answers before you even launch.
This means that you can fine-tune the product and make it absolutely perfect or as close to perfect as possible before launch day arrives.
Utilize the Omnipotent Social Media Platforms

Now, this is the last part that I want to mention and that is simply promoting like heck on Instagram, Facebook, and all other social media platforms.
When people think of growing their blog, they first think of just promoting and getting people to come over and visit their blog, but growth comes in lots of various forms.
You may receive over 400,000 page views a month but if you’re not interacting with people and not understanding what it is they like to see and how you can help change their lives, then 400,000 views just sound empty to me.
You are better off building a blogging business and getting 50 thousand page views a month and really listening to your customers so that you can provide a product that they are dying to get on their hands so don’t worry too much about the actual number.
I have seen people just blow it out of the water and not even have 100,000 page views, and on the flip side, I’ve also seen people with over 200,000 page views and just make absolutely nothing.
So it is the relationships with the people that come to visit you that matter, so as far as growing your blog goes, think of it as a whole package. You need to think of the long term, about the product and service that you need to provide and what kind of content you need to work on and also think of the kind of relationships you can build with potential customers.
