The Sad Truth About Starting a Blog (What No-one Ever Tells You)

Today we are going to be talking about the sad truth and struggles of growing a blog. Because I feel that whenever one starts a blog the first thing that comes to mind is to earn as much money as quickly as possible.

But not minding this, I understand that we are all money-driven (whether you admit it or not). But the point is that we are all money drove and a lot of people start blogs because they want to make a quick buck, and to can head over to Pinterest and see how blogs have made money ranging from hundreds to thousands in the second-month blogging.

But I’m here to tell you that that is not typical and just not the case when it comes to blogging

I have been blogging for some time now and it has been an absolute struggle to grow money-wise, page views-wise, and business-wise, it has just been a real struggle, and to top it all, this gig is just a few-men team.

We designed and maintain the site and various social media platforms that include all the contents in there, and it is tough, really tough as hell, and if you are looking to get all these to grow as quickly as possible to earn a lot of money and do not see the long term vision of it. I hate to say it, but this gig might just not be for you.

If don’t look at it from the long term, as the big picture, it just isn’t going to work. That is the reason why so many people (countless of them) just suddenly drop their blogs and ultimately give up, all for the fact that their expectations were just freaking high.

Let me be honest with you, our platforms are a mess, and growing for us is a serious struggle.

If you are getting started and you have like 10 blog posts and you think that you are going to generate traffic, well unless these articles are killers and you have amazing strategies, and unless you are already invested in the knowledge that you need to get your blog where it needs to go, then it generally isn’t going to generate a lot of traffic for a couple of months, honestly, maybe even a year.

I have seen bloggers and Youtubers spend countless years and years just trying to grow, or trying to be seen, and once they are finally seen the immediately take off, and I have also seen a lot of bloggers and Youtubers working their butts out posting daily or 5 times a week, and working their butt out just to create new content and then not being seen for months, and then they give up or slow down or pushback a little on their dreams a little bit.

And that breaks my heart because if you go into it with the right intentions and if this is what you want to do to earn a living for the rest of your life and are extremely passionate about it, then I think success will come eventually.

Blogging is a long term game and blogging is slowly moving on the outskirts and video is coming more and more in.

so if you haven’t started with YouTube yet, I highly recommend that you get started with YouTube, because it is a great way to grow your blog, and make damn sure that you have great quality content because if not, then people going to come to your website and if it is like a 100 words of valuable information (like my first posts), they are not going to want to forward any of it and they would leave and never return.

So it is extremely important that as much as you produce content ultimately have to be good and helpful to your readers.

As I said earlier, it has been a real struggle for us who got into this for the money, and so I as disappointing as it looks will not discuss our financial gains. It has been tough a lot of late nights, hard work, and a lot of hours pondering on the outcome of the blog.

And also, do not promote products that are not in line with what you produce content on, I have had some experience with this as an affiliate marketer, and it wasn’t pretty, because for you to be in touch with your audience or visitors that you wish to convert as an audience, you do not want to appear as a sellout or money-driven (even if you are).

And if you are passionate about this or he industry, then please, by all means, go for it, but realize that it might take you a long while to grow, and if you are not 100% passionate about it and you just want a quick buck, then you will be disappointed, very disappointed.

Well, I’m sorry if this post was a bit of a downer for you out there trying to start a blog or growing an audience, but I just wanted to get real and discuss the real struggle in the business, because I think a lot of people don't know what it is like.

They feel you could just shoot videos, write whatever they like, and then they see these successful people, people with millions of followers and they just think it is easy.

So if you see some of these successful bloggers and Youtubers who have been doing this for like 10 years and you have just been in for like a month, then you have a long way to go.

Don’t let this bring you down, really, rather let this be a little bit of encouragement (in a strange, twisted way), if you got the will and power then you can do it. It is just going to take you a while, so go out and chase your dreams in blogging and stick to it, because it will be worth it in the long run.
